The Arrington Method is a creative project management model that guides visionaries through the journey of project completion. The model was developed with guiding principles woven in that make it especially unique.
Vision + People
The Arrington Method seeks to put the vision and the people involved at the center of creative work. The vision, the idea, and the dream are at the center of the creative work and the people, visionaries and mavens who are connected to the vision are also at the center. What does that look like in a practical way? For example, if the core elements of the vision cannot be carried out in the given timeframe, the vision takes precedence. If a maven has lost clarity on the vision but has tasks to work on, the maven takes priority. The maven must be clear before the tasks are carried out. When it comes to creative work, vision and people come first.
Inspiration, Motivation, and Innovation
The next principle is inspiration, motivation, and innovation encouraged at every stage. During creative work, The Arrington Method encourages visionaries and mavens who are working on their project to welcome moments of inspiration. Work in a way and a place that is inspiring to you. Inspiration is an important part of creative work, and it often starts at the beginning, but it can happen at any moment so position yourself to be open to it. Motivation can help you stick to doing the work that has to be done so identify your motivators and use them to propel your creative work to the next level. Innovation is welcome at any stage in the process; finding new and more efficient ways to improve your vision is encouraged.
Visionaries Work at Their Own Pace
The next principle is that visionaries go at their own speed. This also ties in with putting vision and people first. The best creative work can happen when the visionary or maven completing the work is allowed to work as fast or as slow as they need to bring the vision to life. Leave time for this when planning out the work.
Creative Projects Are Special
Lastly, creative projects are different. They’re special. They’re different because they need space for the creative process to be carried out. They can’t be put in a box or restrained. The Arrington Method leaves room for the creative process and any other creative practices of the visionary.
